Black verbals to Parkland College

MATTOON – Lexie Black, senior at Casey-Westfield High School and a player for the Premier Fastpitch Softball 18U Gold has verbally committed to Parkland College in Champaign, IL.Black pitched for Coaches Kristi and Dan Paulson during the travel ball season. Premier Fastpitch 18U Gold were the 2015 ASA 18U A Illinois State Champions and rode to a strong 17th place finish at the 104 Team ASA/USA 18U A Nationals in Spartanburg, SC this past summer.

Her honors during her junior year include: First Team All Little Illini Conference, Second Team Decatur Herald and Review All-Area Softball Team . Sophomore year: Second Team All Little Illini Conference; Honorable Mention Decatur Herald and Review All-Area Softball Team.

In the circle, Black was 22-6 with an 1.680 ERA and 158 strikeouts. The Warriors were 26-8 and are coached by Mike Cutright. Black will graduate in 2016.

Parkland is a NCJAA Division II School, that has three NJCAA National Runners-up Places and has finished in the top 10 eight times. The most recent, a Third Place finish in 2012. The Cobras’ are coached by Chuck Clutts.

Black is the daughter of Kim and Patrick Braiser and Josh Black.
