Pine River-Backus Elementary has a new website. You can visit it by going to elem.prbschools.org. Please update your bookmark to the new site. The new site is where all updates will be made. Thank You!
I hope you all had a safe and Happy New Year! We are excited to be back at school with your children and look forward to continuing to provide high quality educational experiences. As always, please contact us with any questions, comments, suggestions, or concerns. Your communication is of great value to us!
Listed below are a few pieces of information to be aware of this month. Also, attached to this letter is our calendar of events for the elementary school during the month of January. Here’s to a great start to our New Year!
Please be sure your child has coats, hats, gloves, boots, snow pants, scarves and other winter gear at school. All students will be going outside each day if the weather is -10℉ or warmer (including the wind chill). It is really important that our students are appropriately dressed.
IMPORTANT: Please be sure your child’s name or initials are somewhere on their winter gear. This will help tremendously if we find items on the floor that are missing.
In the event of inside recess, students will be supervised in the gym and/or classrooms.
END OF 2ND QUARTER
OPTIONAL LOCAL PURPOSE ASSESSMENT (OLPA)
Students in grades 3-6 will be taking the OLPA test during the month of January. The OLPA assessment is basically like a “practice MCA test”. There is not an accountability report sent to the state for this assessment. However, teachers will be given timely, valid, and reliable data to use for instructional decision-making. The OLPA test measures students progress towards meeting the MN State Common Core Standards. More information about the OLPA and other state tests may be found the department of education’s website at: http://education.state.mn.us/MDE/JustParent/TestReq/index.html.
What else is going on at PRB?
