About Mrs. Nichols

Background:

I grew up in a small, rural town in central Maine called Benton. As a child, I used to love exploring the outdoors and playing "school" with my younger sister. I knew from a very young age that I was destined to be a teacher.

I received my BA in Elementary Education from the University of Maine at Farmington in 2008. After college, I taught 4th & 5th grade in a beautiful little school tucked away in the woods of Lebanon, Me. In 2015 I moved to Portland, where my husband Matt grew up, and was lucky enough to land a job at Presumpscot! I am thrilled to be teaching 5th grade again this year in this incredible community.
Outside the Classroom:

When I am not at school, I love spending time with my husband, Matt, daughter, Lucy, and our rambunctious coon cat, Manny. I also enjoy hiking, swimming, camping, walking along Kettle Cove, and curling up with a good book & a cup of Earl Grey tea.

I also happen to be a huge fan of the Harry Potter series. I have read the books more times than I can count, and even went to the Wizarding World in Orlando, FL for my honeymoon! This series sparked my love of reading, and inspires me to find "that" book/series that will do the same for young readers in my classroom.
