Career & Technical Education

A Message from the Director

Dr. Marlene Cole

I have 20+ years experience in the Poplarville School District, 13 as a Career & Technical Business Educator and the remaining years as the Director of Career & Technical Education.  The school system in Poplarville, including the Career Development Center, is one of the best in the state.

Career and Technical Education is my passion.  This is where the rubber meets the road.  We get the privilege of teaching students the concepts as well as the application of said concepts.  I am proud to say that when students leave us, they have had every opportunity to acquire the skills necessary to succeed in the workplace or continuing their education. Students are eligible to begin their training as early as the 9th grade in some cases. Students now have an additional option for graduation by completing a Career Pathway program.

Mississippi currently has 15 Career Clusters containing more than 35 Pathways/Programs and more under consideration.  Poplarville Career Development Center offers 5 of those Career Clusters including 5 Pathways/Programs
  • Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources Cluster
    • Agricultural and Environmental Science and Technology Pathway/Program of Study
  • Arts, Audio-Video Technology and Communications Cluster
    • Digital Media Technology Pathway/Program of Study
  • Health Sciences Cluster
    • Healthcare and Clinical Services Pathway/Program of Study
  • Hospitality and Tourism Cluster
    • Culinary Arts Pathway/Program of Study
  • Marketing Cluster
    • Marketing Pathway/Program of Study
Our Center is conveniently located on the High School Campus allowing us to be able to serve all Poplarville High School students.
