History Section

Some Things to Include:

• Native American history

• First settlers & reasons for settlements

• Wars

• Statehood

• Historical events

You can choose to split up your history section any way you choose, but remember you will have 3 paragraphs. All of the information in each paragraph should be on the same topic. 

Some examples that students in the past have done are:

Native American History, Settlers & Statehood, and Recent Events or 

Early settlers, War, Statehood & Recent Events

Native American History, Colonial History, American Revolution (this was a state that one of the original 13 colonies!)

Once you have your timeline of events chosen, go deeper with your facts by thinking about the following questions:

Also think about how your facts are connected. (See example below) How might you explain or describe these connections? 

Lastly, when you start revising your paragraph start thinking about how the history and geography are connected. do you see any patterns? Ask deep questions & research to find out more! Be curious! Add to your thinking!
