Mrs. Boerman - 8th Grade English, 6th Grade Block

Welcome!!!  My name is Carla Boerman and even though I'm an old bat, this is my second year at PMS and I'm very excited to be here!

My husband of 38 years and I raised our two boys here, but when our youngest graduated from Amador, we were transferred to Oregon for my husband's job. We were only there for a short time and he was transferred to Folsom where we lived for 8 years.  I helped to start a public charter in Roseville while there.

The years in Folsom were great and also difficult at the same time.  Our oldest, who was 24 at the time, was diagnosed with a brain tumor and moved home to begin his journey fighting cancer.  He enjoyed remission for 2 1/2 years and the hideous disease returned in every bone in his body.  In November of 2014, just after his 28th birthday, he went to his forever home.  We miss him dearly...
I was a stay-at-home wife and mother while raising our boys.  As their college entrance years grew closer, I decided to return to work - our oldest was a challenge to get through school, and I so appreciated the teachers who were willing to try to unlock the way he learned - I figured out that the teaching profession was where I really wanted to be!

My newest great joy is our grandbaby daughter, Caroline.  Our son, our daughter-in-love and Caroline live with us, so I am REALLY having fun being "Lolli" (my husband is "Pop" and together we are Lolli - Pop!!!).
I have taught in the private sector, the public charter school sector and now in PUSD.  I feel very privileged to be a teacher and to work with you in the education of your children.  Please know I am available and wanting to answer your questions and help in any way I am possibly able.

            Have a GREAT year!
