Clayton County and the Cities of College Park, Forest Park, Jonesboro, Lake City, Lovejoy, Morrow, and Riverdale were Awarded FEMA & GEMA Grant Funding in December 2015 to update their existing Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP).

HMP Project at a Glance:

Clayton County is working with its Cities, the Hazard Mitigation Planning Committee (HMPC) and the consulting firm Plans & More, LLP  to draft the Multi-Jurisdictional HMP update. 

The input and concerns of citizens, business owners, local, regional and state agencies of Clayton County are a very important part of the process. Please consider serving on the HMPC to share your thoughts and suggestions for the plan.

  • Chapter 2 Natural Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Vulnerability (HRV).
  • Chapter 3 Technological Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Vulnerability (HRV).

Hazard Mitigation Planning Objectives 
  • Hazard Mitigation Plans (HMP) form the foundation for a community's long-term strategy to reduce disaster losses and break the cycle of disaster damage, reconstruction, and repeated damage.
    • Your HMP Plan Update Grant Application was reviewed and approved by FEMA and GEMA.
    • Plan Updates are required every five years
    • HMPC forms to draft the plan.
    • Presented to Public for review and comments
    • Reviewed by GEMA & FEMA
