Welcome to the Cannon County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) Website
Cannon County and the City of Auburntown and the Town of Woodbury Awarded FEMA & TEMA Grant Funding in November, 2012 to write a Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP). On this website you will find information about the HMP, documents, meeting notices, agendas, and planning documents. Please browse the site to learn about natural and technological hazards in your community and the planning process for mitigating those hazards.

HMP Project at a Glance:

Cannon County is working with the City of Auburntown, Town of Woodbury and the consulting firm Plans & More, LLP to establish a Hazard Mitigation Planning Committee (HMPC) to draft the Multi-Jurisdictional HMP. The input and concerns of the citizens, business owners, local, regional and state agencies of Cannon County are a very important part of the process. Please consider serving on the HMPC to share your thoughts and suggestions for the plan.

  • Chapter 4 Natural Hazard Mitigation Strategies.
  • Chapter 5 Technological Hazard Mitigation Strategies.
  • Chapter 6 HMP Maintenance and Update.
  • Chapter 7 Conclusion and References
  • Appendices A-G

 Hazard Mitigation Planning Objectives 

  • Hazard Mitigation Plans (HMP) form the foundation for a community's long-term strategy to reduce disaster losses and break the cycle of disaster damage, reconstruction, and repeated damage.
    • Your HMP Planning Grant application will be reviewed by FEMA and TEMA.
    • Updates are required every five years
    • HMPC forms to draft the plan.
    • Presented to Public for review and comments
    • Reviewed by TEMA & FEMA
    • Adopted, implemented, and maintained by Cannon County, Auburntown and Woodbury.
