Ceramics 2/3

Ceramics 2 and 3 are designed to build on the skills mastered in Ceramics 1 with an emphasis on concepts and effective communication using materials, tools and construction techniques correctly. The elements of art and principles of design are critical in their ability to communicate visually. Students will create a variety of ceramic pieces including both functional and non-functional. The goal is for students to focus on developing their own personal and artistic style, taking into account technical, historical, aesthetic and cultural concerns.

"Sleeping in Peace"
Spring 2014
Peace, something all humans look for in life. Most can only find it when they sleep, their hectic lives taking a toll on them. When children sleep their imagination runs wild, they forget about their problems for a few hours. Maybe she likes to dream of dancing on top of water singing her heart out or maybe even laying in a grassy field looking up at the starry night sky. I created this piece to show peace and imagination that might only come when they’re asleep.
