Philosophy

  • Psychology: stimulate interest in the scientific study of human behavior for the purpose of developing a greater degree of student awareness of self and surroundings.
  • History: encourage students to examine the events of the past for the purpose of learning lessons that will help them make informed decisions about challenges they will encounter in the present and the future.
  • General: set high expectations for student work and behavior for the purpose of teaching skills that will enable them to become responsible and productive members of society.

  • tests/quizzes/reading quizzes: 60% of grade
  • projects: 20% of grade
  • homework/classwork: 20% of grade

Contemporary Issues Marking Period Grade Calculations
 
  • class discussion/participation: 60% of grade
  • current events articles 20% of grade

Advanced Placement Seminar Marking Period Grade Calculations
 
  • all tests, quizzes, and assignments are given equal weight in the seminar
  • student marking period grades are determined by averaging the grades of each of their seminar classes
College Prep Psychology Marking Period Grade Calculations
 
  • tests/quizzes/projects: 60% of grade
  • homework/classwork: 40% of grade
