Super Switch!

The first grade team is super excited to announce that we are giving our students the opportunity to work in all first grade classrooms. We are piloting a “super-switch” in which Mrs. DeRosa is teaching all first graders Writing, Mrs. Biron is teaching Fundations word work and Mrs. Rowley is teaching Math. We are excited about the possibilities for students to go deeper with the content area. The change was effective on Monday, October 5 and seems to be off to a wonderful start.. Be sure to ask your student about the super-switch! If you would like to provide feedback on the switch, please direct it to your child's teacher.

This year, our classrooms will rely on community supplies. We will store supplies in community bins for everyone’s use, and everyone will have access to the same supplies for their work.

There are many reasons for having community supplies in a classroom: This system helps foster a sense that the classroom and everything in it belong to everyone; it helps children learn how to share and cooperate; it cuts down on competitiveness; and it ensures that all children have what they need.

A wish list of needed supplies you can contribute to the class is as follows:

  • Tissues for the classroom
  • Disinfectant wipes for the classroom
  • Ziploc bags for the classroom (all sizes)
