Create a Performance Task

Use the links to the left to guide you through the process of developing your assessments. What we are working on here is a culminating performance task; that is,
  • It is a task to be delivered at the end of a unit or sequence of instruction.
  • It should be completed independently by the student to gauge her/his proficiency on specific standards.
  • It should be taken unrehearsed, so that it requires application, not just recall of information. (That is, in a class where students have already analyzed logical reasoning in the Declaration of Independence, you would not ask students to compose an analysis of the Declaration of Independence. Rather, they might analyze logic in a different document from the same era.)
  • It should produce, or have the potential to produce, data about student proficiency for a standard or series of standards.
