The culture of a society is the product of the language, religion, beliefs, customs, traditions, economy, and government of that society.
Varied cultures share common elements.
Students will keep considering the following questions:
What makes us who we are?
How does the understanding of others strengthen communities?
Students will work on the following skills/concepts:
culture is the way of life of a group of people.
writers and artists contribute to the cultural heritage of communities.
cultural heritage describes the traditions, customs, and artifacts of a cultural group such as stories, poems, songs, dance, art, foods, buildings, and celebrations.
Students will be skilled at:
comparing ethnic and/or cultural celebrations.
interpreting oral, visual, and print material.
using technology to create written and visual material to express ideas.
researching information using a variety of resources.
