Reading NEWS!

Students have been doing an AMAZING job with their baggy books. Remember to only send his/her book back when they are fluent at reading the book. Below are questions to ask your child while reading fiction text.

Tips for Parents...How to Help Your Child Become a Better Reader printable. Questions to ask when reading fiction and nonfiction texts.

Students should be at a level J by the end of first grade. We will contiune guided reading groups to work on strengthening our skills and improving as readers. Check out the parent flyer in your child's folder for ways to help your child become a better reader at home! Your child's book will be located in the zip loc bag in his/her homework folder with a little bookmark with important instructions on when to return the book. Please feel free to send me a message on remind or email me if you have any questions.

A free app you can download to help find book levels is Scholastic’s Book Wizard.  There is also an app called Level It for a small fee.

For purchasing books on the correct level, order from the directions below!

Scholastic Reading Club
Our Class Code: N3JBG

Encouraging reading is one of the most important things we can do to help your child succeed. It can be tough finding the right books to keep them interested, which is why I am so excited that our class will be participating in Scholastic Reading Club.

Each month, your child will bring home Reading Club flyers. Together you can choose from books hand-selected by teachers and experts, and then order online.

I'd also love some help growing our classroom Reading Club. If you'd like to help out, please let me know! I'm excited to get our class reading!
