I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself as I begin my fourth year at Pikeland Community School.  My first two years at PCS were great as I taught in a fifth grade classroom. Last year I have moved to D-Pod and I am teaching 6th and 7th grade social studies.  Besides teaching, I am an assistant baseball coach and the boy's 8th grade basketball coach.  I am looking forward to all aspects of the school year.

My name is Darin Craven (Mr. Craven during school) and I reside in Griggsville with my wife (Pollee) of twenty-eight years.  She is employed as the high school principal at Brown County High School.

We have one son, Dryden (age 24) who is a probation officer in Pike County and he was married this summer.  We also have one daughter, Francesca (age 22) who graduated from college this past May.  She is employed and resides in Missouri.

Prior to teaching I was employed as a probation officer for over eighteen years here in Pike County.  This will be my ninth year of teaching.  During my teaching career, I have taught in the fifth, sixth, and seventh grades.

I have always enjoyed participating in various sports and cheering on my favorite teams.  The teams I follow with great enthusiasm are the St. Louis Cardinals (major league baseball) and the Pittsburgh Pirates; Tennessee Titans (national football league); and Duke Blue Devils (NCAA basketball).

I have always had a desire to help people, especially the younger generation, whether through work as a probation officer, coach, or community member.  This desire is what lead me to the teaching profession and I have thoroughly enjoyed each school year.  I am very excited to be teaching at PCS and I am looking forward to a great year with the 6th and seventh grades.
