Travis Farhar and Kathy Coomes of ProRehab just returned from Jacmel.  They put together a presentation to share what you need to know before your trip. Take a look to hear a first hand account!

What if someone else wants to donate towards my trip?

If donations are made on behalf of a traveler, please make sure to notate this and the traveler’s name on the check.  Receipts for tax purposes will be sent upon request.  Please make checks payable to Neighborhood Engagement and send all payments to the PT Development Offices: PT Development, Attn: Lori Abrams. 13000 Equity Place, Ste. 105, Louisville, KY 40223.

Questions?  Please feel free to contact Lori Abrams at the PTD offices: Lori@physicaltherapist.com or (502)442-7697

Are there any tangible items that the clinic needs? (Therabands, theraballs, taping supplies, etc)

We can use any and all of the above!  Particularly shoes and we also go to a refugee camp (Pinchinat) which has over 4000 displaced Haitians and they are in need of diapers-particularly size 1 and 2.  We will want you to take the limit of luggage and may have you even cart our t-shirts that we give out to patients in the clinics (Brooke- brooke@physicalthearpist.com- can give you info on it).

We have a pretty exhaustive list under the forms and files section.  The best advice is to pack light.  Perhaps bring "scrubs" for each day and then a set of clothes for a few evenings. Pack light!

Do I need shots?

We have provided a good web link that references suggestions from CDC (Center for Disease Control) under the forms and files.  We recommend taking Chloroquine for prevention of Malaria.

How do I make travel arrangements?

We have a system in place to assist you in both flight arrangements and ground transportation to and from Jacmel.  We try and coordinate arrival times such that all members of the team arrive at Port Au Prince (PAP) at the same time.
