This past month we've had several people call us about safety concerns. We take every precaution to make sure your kids are safe. We've added locked doors and video cameras in our efforts to secure the campus in the last 5 years.  In fact, our local law enforcement makes an effort to spend more time on campus.

We make our decisions based on facts alone. Things usually deteriorate quickly when speculation begins.  When students notify our administration about concerns or problems, they jump into action trying to find the  facts.
Please help us make our school and community safer. If someone repeats or says something to alarm you....call us and we will help with facts.

PHES held our 2nd annual school-wide book club, with each family receiving a complimentary copy of the book “Werewolves Don’t Go to Summer Camp.”  This book was purchased with Title 1 funds as part of our parent involvement plan and provided an opportunity for children and their parents to enjoy a quick and fun chapter book together.

During the week of the read-aloud our teachers transformed our building hallways and  classrooms into a campground to get our kiddos excited about the book.  The Missouri Conservation Department and Smokey the Bear even visited our classrooms to hype the book and talk about campfire safety.  All of these classroom activities lead up to a culminating family night of activities related to the book on March 6th from 5:30pm-7pm.  Free hot dogs for all who can make it!

PHMS takes our student safety very seriously, we have many safety measures in place in order to best protect our students. We utilize a security camera system to monitor our grounds, our external doors are locked at all times with a buzz-in system at our main doors, and various tools in our classrooms. I want to let you all know that we take immediate action when a threat is brought to our attention.  We have worked with our students on the importance of talking with adults when they have concerns.

Over the last couple of weeks, PHMS has been talking about Digital Citizenship and the Power of Words in an effort to empower our students with knowledge to stay safe.

If you ever have any concerns please feel free to contact the MS Office.

Contest Seasons are upon us at the high school with numerous organizations competing in regional and state events throughout March and April.  FCCLA, FBLA, and FFA are busy along with other teams competing to represent Pleasant Hope High School to the best that they can.

Our academic scholar bowl team recently competed very well in the Mid-Lakes Conference team event going undefeated through pool play before losing out in the semifinals.

School safety is always a top priority at the  high school building.  We are always monitoring our school through the use of 25 security cameras , locked down doors, and hours of professional development to train our teachers on protecting our school in the event that training needs to go into action.   We are in a remodel phase for next year with a brand new entrance into the high school being built to even further provide a safe school for our community.

Spring Break is March 10-18 where no school will be held.  After Spring Break the rest of the year will move quickly with 6 weeks to graduation on May 4th for seniors and underclassmen have state testing the last week of April and the second week of May.  I encourage you to push your students to do their best.
