PHES students celebrated our 100th day of learning on January 24th with students dressing up like they were 100 years old. We had some fun writing activities in grades K-1 that predicted what their lives would look like when they turn 100 years old.

In February PHES will host our spring school-wide read aloud with every student receiving a copy of "Werewolves Don’t Go to Summer Camp." These books are purchased through Title 1 funds and will culminate in a week of camping themed learning activities and our Title 1 Family Fun Night, with food and games for all, on March 6th.

We are one month into second semester and PHMS has kicked it off with a bang. On Friday, January 26th, we rolled out a Chromebook for every student in the middle school to be used throughout the day. This initiative has opened up new opportunities for our students in their classrooms as they have access to the technology they need in their classes.

We have parent teacher conferences on Thursday, February 22nd from 3:30 PM to 9:30 PM in the Middle School gymnasium. There will be two parent friendly activities coming up in the next few weeks. First will be Donuts with Dunning at 7:00 AM on February 23rd. The next will be our Family Kickoff for MAP testing, March 6th at 5:30PM.

Second Semester is off and running with progress grades being checked Jan. 31st. Parent Teacher Conferences for the high School will be on Thursday, February 22nd from 3:30-9:30pm. I hope that all parents can make it up to the high school gymnasium for conferences with their child's teachers and build positive relationships towards your child's education.

Scheduling packets for the 2018-2019 school year were handed out Jan. 24th and turned in by Feb. 2nd for students to make their choices for high school classes next year. We will work over the next few months to build the schedule for our students that best fits the needs of all.

As always it is never to early to start career planning in today's world and understanding that the hard work students do today will impact the rest of their future for a lifetime.

In closing, I want to stress that we are working to instill good character in all areas of our curriculum. The two strongest factors towards success are attendance at school and work ethic to turn in assignments on the day they are due. Students that do those two things each day have an exponentially greater chance of success than those who do not. My door is always open and please feel free to contact me at any time with any ideas that you may have to help improve our high school. I am here to serve our students and families in any way that I can. It is a good day to be a Pirate!!

    GO PIRATES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
