DMS Orchestras

Discovery Middle School Orchestras have been growing since the building opened in 1996.  We currently have two sixth grade orchestras (violin/viola class and cello/bass class), two seventh grade orchestras (violin/viola class and cello/bass class), and one combined eighth grade orchestra, housing a total of over 160 string musicians.   The orchestras have performed in the ISSMA (Indiana State School Music Association) competitions, earning "Gold" ratings and "With Distinction" ratings.

Congratulations to last year's 8th Grade Orchestra on their performance at the IMEA (Indiana Music Educators Association) Professional Development Convention.  They traveled to Fort Wayne on January 16, 2015 and served as a clinic group for Mr. Bob Phillips' Total Tone Transformation presentation, at 11:00am.  They performed at the beautiful and historic First Presbyterian Church at 4:30pm with Mr. Bob Phillips as their guest composer and conductor.  The performance was professional and spectacular!!!  Students may access/upload pictures and performance through our Dropbox; please contact Mrs. Watts.
