Summer Band Rehearsals

Important:  Please read and understand.

REHEARSALS:  The HS Band HS Band holds rehearsal on every Monday that school is in session with very few exceptions.  Flags and Percussion may have additional practices as needed.  Rehearsals are required and part of a student’s grade.  PLEASE BE AWARE THAT A LACK OF PLANNING ON YOUR PART DOES NOT CONSTITUTE AN  EMERGENCY ON OUR PART.  We understand that emergencies come up.  We hope to teach our students that planning is a very important.    Please!!!! Make appointments on days that we do not rehearse.  We know that sometimes that cannot be avoided, but it is very important that we have students at rehearsal.  Absences for other school events, i.e. football, volleyball, etc. will be handled through your Director and the Coach.

PERFORMANCES:  All performances of the band are required and are a major part of a student’s grade.  If students are going to miss any performances they must inform their Director in writing of when and why they need to miss.  The Band Director will use school policy and band policy to determine if the absence is Excused or Unexcused.  Excused absences may require make up work to receive credit.  Unexcused absences will result in major grade deductions and possible removal from the performing group.  Flagrant violation of this policy will result in the student being assigned alternative assessments and dismissal from band at semester.

REQUIRED ITEMS:  All HS Band Members are required to have, Flat black marching shoes.  The approved brands are Drillmaster and Style Plus.  Students must also have a Band T-Shirt, Flip Folder, Lyre, and Tennis Shoes for rehearsal.  A water bottle is highly recommended.

Concert dress for all bands is all black.  If we can see it, it needs to be black.  If students cannot get the required uniform, they need to bring a note from their parents 2 weeks prior to the event explaining what part of the uniform they need and indicating sizes.  Being in uniform is part of the performance.  Failure to do so will result in a grade reduction and exclusion from group pictures.
