Mr. Mathews, the sixth grade science teacher from room 112, has passed. This touched staff and students quite deeply. Last week, there were grief counselors at the school and a memorial for students to sign. There was also a memorial service for his family and friends on Sunday, December 29th. All we have now is memories of this touching teacher.

The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) went on a field trip to Margaret Brent Elementary/Middle School. The field trip took place on March 7, 2014. The NJHS learned how many disabled kids have special equipment for their benefit.
The NJHS first helped make Dr. Seuss Hats for the kids. We saw how the kids reacted and how they enjoy making things. We learned how they learn how to make choices on their own. We saw how they loved the support when they needed it, which is a good thing.
The NJHS next took a tour around each classroom, learning how they react to different subjects. For example, we saw a music room for the elementary students. We saw them playing on the piano, learning how and having fun. The NJHS also saw another classroom, in which they were enjoying television just like us. We saw how they loved creating things and having a colorful school and classroom.
Margaret Brent is a school for many disabled kids. This school is amazing. They treat the kids fairly. They are just like us. They have feelings too. These kids are often physically disabled, not mentally. Margaret Brent is a great school for them and they deserve to be treated fairly.
