All middle school students can receive general music instruction for a nine-week period as a part of their creative arts program. Through the study of interest initiatives, and the development of fundamental keyboard and/or guitar skills students become more knowledgeable consumers of music.
Students in sixth, seventh and eighth grade may elect to continue their interest in chorus, which meets every other day for the full year. Music reading and performance skills are enhanced. Students are required to participate in the county choral assessment. Students are also invited to participate in the county and state keyboard, guitar and vocal solo and ensemble festivals. Please note that the piano festival has no state level of adjudication.
