Welcome to the FDHS International Baccalaureate (IB) World School page. FDHS became an IB World School in October of 2011. We are authorized to offer the Middle Years Programme, in partnership with James Madison Middle School, and we received authorization for the IB Diploma Programme in March of 2014.
Frederick Douglass High School Mission Statement
Frederick Douglass High School, an IB World School, empowers our students to become effective communicators, globally-minded problem-solvers, and life-long learners who realize their potential and become ethical, service-oriented citizens.
International Baccalaureate Programme Mission Statement
The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.
These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
IB Wall of Fame
These students earned the IB Middle Years Programme Certificate from Frederick Douglass at the end of their sophomore year (MYP Year 5). Students met the academic standard (minimum of a 2.0), successfully completed the Personal Project, participated in service learning experiences, maintained an IB Portfolio, studied French or Spanish, and demonstrated the IB Learner Profile traits. We salute their accomplishment!
We look to honor the future achievements our class of 2016 Diploma Programme students!
