Alan Walker has been a qualified PGA Professional for 38 years and was awarded Master Professional status in 2002. He has always been interested in golf course architecture and in 1992 successfully designed Benton Hall Golf Club in Essex, swiftly followed by Garon Park Golf Complex, a 27 hole course in Southend-on-Sea.
Rivenhall Oaks Golf Club was designed by Alan Walker in 1994 with an additional 9 hole short course added in 2002. In Cambridgeshire he designed Heydon Grange Golf Club, a 27 hole complex which has hosted three Europro Tour Events.
Currently he has designed a new 27 hole inland links style golf course in Rainham in Essex which has received planning permission and construction work began in October 2010.
Together with other re-modelling and renovationwork and consultancy he has acted as an expert witness for The Cambridgeshire Golf Club and more recently was a panellist for Golf World’s Top 100 Holes in Europe. He has spent considerable time with international architects Dave and Paul Thomas he has visited many of their new constructions and consulted to their clients on practice facility design and operational issues.
He was PGA Captain in the Millennium year, is both an R&A and PGA Qualified Rules of Golf Referee, an R&A Golf Development Consultant and a Senior PGA Tutor for Business Management. He holds the European Institute of Golf Course Architects (EIGCA) diploma in golf course architecture and has an extensive golf architecture and design library.
