Colorin Colorado  A bilingual site for families and educators of English Language Learners.  The site contains reading and writing skill-building children’s books, stories, activities, ideas, and strategies to help PreK through 12 students learn to read.  Printable flyers for parentstips sheets and guides,  webcasts, and Educator’s Page with ELL resources by grade. Colorín Colorado is produced by Reading Rockets, a service of WETA, the flagship public broadcasting station in D.C.

Larry Ferlazzo’s ELL Pages   One of the most comprehensive teaching sites on the web.  The main link brings you to thousands of activities by category, appropriate for ELL or for young children who are native English-speakers and are just learning to read.  Most links have both audio and text. His site also includes pages for Teaching ELL Beginners,  Intermediate and Advanced, an ELL Teachers Page, and  Best of the Web geared toward ELL.

ManyThings.org   Quizzes, word games,  proverbs, slang expressions, anagrams, flash cards, Reading with MP3s, a random-sentence generator and other language learning activities.  No ads.

Mingoville  A colorful interactive English language course with a wide variety of materials. Mingoville is a free storybook world of English language games. There are 10 missions in the course. Each mission covers a distinct theme and can be worked on independently from the other missions.  The site is based in Denmark (so watch for British spelling of some words) but has a worldwide audience.

Photographic Dictionary  Simple descriptions, large photos, & categories (jobs, food, places, events, man-made objects) of common objects using Creative Commons (copyright-free) images. [Note:  Be aware that the “Beverages” section is not appropriate for students.]
