I was speaking with Paul Spiers the other day, from our local car enthusiast fix it shop. Paul was telling me Break-in Oils are the best thing since sliced bread for anyone with a new motor. "Now I can fire up a new engine and run-in the components without the fear of wiping the lobe off a camshaft." said Paul.
Whenever you are installing a cam (or any other new part) that will be subject to the harsh environment of a performance application, be sure you use Break-in Oil.Why? Well the cost of changing the oil after you run-in the engine, is far less than the cost of a new cam and lifters plus the labour involved in dis-assembly and re-assembly.
We carry Royal Purple Break-In Oil (RP11487), formulated to allow optimal ring seal and protect rotating assembly components such as the camshaft and valve train from initial start up wear. This oil is are formulated from highly refined mineral oils with liberal amounts of zinc and phosphorus additives to ensure optimum protection on fire up. This Oil is fully formulated and does not require the use of any other chemical additives.
Paul runs a new engine for 500 miles with Break-in Oil, then replaces the oil and filter. He feels it is cheap insurance for his work, and can't we all use a little cheap insurance?
