PEO Licensure Assistance Program (formerly the Mentorship Program)

What is the PEO Licensure Assistance Program? 


The PEO Licensure Assistance Program is a program that links Engineering Interns (Interns) with Professional Engineers (Guides) licensed with PEO to provide the interns with guidance and support as they progress towards professional licensure status. PEO believes that this program will equip new engineers with a greater understanding of their roles and responsibilities and for success in their chosen profession. 

This Licensure Assistance Program is expected to run from May 3, 2014 to November 1, 2014.  You would be expected to meet with your guide/intern for at least 2 hours a month over that time period and to provide feedback to the Chapter.



Please note: Not all PEO Chapters are participating in the Licensure Assistance program at this time. Lake Ontario Chapter is looking for licensed Professional Engineers to act as Mentors and for Engineering Interns interested in registering to be Mentees.  To find out more about the program or to apply to be a mentor or mentee please click here: PEO Licensure Assistance Program or email our Lake Ontario Chapter representative Rohan Service, P.Eng..

Who can be a Guide? 

Professional Engineers
licensed with PEO within the participating chapters can become guides. You must be a P.Eng. 


Who can be an Intern? 

Engineering Interns
(EITs) enrolled in PEO’s EIT program within the participating chapters can become interns. You must be enrolled in PEO’s EIT program. Click here to apply! 


What it is not! 

The primary objective of the Licensure Assistance program is to help guide Engineering interns through the licensing process, develop as a professional and assimilate into the engineering community. While some discussion around career matters may occur, PEO does not intend the 

program to be a job finding mechanism. The program will not find you a job nor meet the requirements for a Professional Engineer referee. Please refer to PEO’s Experience Guidelines that outlines the referee requirements, including the role of the professional engineer Monitor.

The PEO Mentorship Program is not a job finding program.  The primary objective of the mentoring program is to help guide engineering interns through the licensing process, develop as a professional and assimilate into the engineering community.
