CHS College Guidance

Welcome back to school! It’s that time of year and Ms. Kyte and Dr. Boyle are already actively working with the students. Ms. Kyte will be meeting with the senior class regarding their progression towards their college and career options, addressing financial aid deadlines, and individually meeting with each senior regarding their individual goals. Dr. Boyle will be individually meeting with each freshman and making a personal introduction. Ms. Kyte and Dr. Boyle’s next step will be to conduct group sessions in September with the freshman, sophomore, and junior classes in an effort to begin test preparation for the coming PSAT and PSAT/NMSQT scheduled for October.

We have welcomed many new students to the Catholic High Community in the first few weeks of school, with an orientation for new students on August 8 and for parents on August 21. We look forward to their contribution to our school, and we wish all of our students a very successful 2018-2019 school year.

Remember to regularly check out the Catholic High School calendar, located on the school website ( to stay abreast of the multiple workshops and seminars that are offered throughout the year.

Standardized testing is already in full swing as the students are introduced to MAP. MAP stands for “Measure of Academic Progress” and is a standardized achievement test that will be given in both the English and Math classes at the beginning and end of the school year.

Then on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, the freshmen, sophomores, and juniors will be given the Preliminary Scholastic Achievement Test (PSAT). Freshmen and sophomores will take the PSAT and the juniors will be administered the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT) /Preliminary SAT (PSAT).
