Committee Descriptions

Bingo: Held one evening in the winter/spring.  Families get together to play bingo and win prizes.

Chairperson(s):  Sets date; obtains 50-70 donations from various businesses as bingo prizes; calls volunteers to help with bingo night (including set-up, bingo activities and clean-up).

Volunteers: Help to call businesses; sell tickets; check bingo cards and sell refreshments.

 

Bulletin Boards/Showcase: Decorates two small, enclosed bulletin boards and entrance showcase.

Chairperson(s): Plans, designs and collects materials to decorate the two bulletin boards and showcase with holiday and seasonal items and information on important school events.

 

Campbell Soup Labels: Collect Campbell Soup Labels from students and their families.

Chairperson(s): Collects labels brought in by family and friends of Sellersville; reminds them to send in labels to school via flyers; keeps track of the amount collected and sends them into the company for redemption.

 

Directory:  A telephone/address book for all students in Sellersville Elementary School. 

Chairperson(s):  Obtains all current telephone numbers and addresses of every student at school.

Volunteers:  Helps to fold, assemble and distribute school directory.

 

Family Events: Outside school events for Sellersville Elementary families 

Chairperson(s): Plans and coordinates events; distributes flyers; tabulates responses; collects money and oversees event nights.

 

General Mills Box-Top$:  Collects Box-Top$ labels from Sellersville Elementary families.

Chairperson(s): Coordinates the collection, counting and redemption of Box-Top$ and runs incentive contests twice a year.

 

Hospitality: Provides refreshments for many school events.

Chairperson(s): Coordinates volunteers to purchase, prepare or provide refreshments for school events including Kindergarten Tea, New Family Night, Welcome Back Staff Breakfast, Open House, Santa’s Secret Shop, etc.  Coordinates meals for Scholastic events and teacher luncheons.

 

In-School Assemblies: Plans educational assemblies throughout the year for our students.

Chairperson(s): Selects and schedules assembly programs, along with the principal.

 

Kidstuff Coupon Books: Organizes the sale of coupon books for discounts at local stores, restaurants and attractions.   This fundraiser takes place in September/October.

Chairperson(s): Distributes and collects books and order forms.

Volunteers:  Helps tally order forms and distribute books.
 

Lunchroom Duty: Assists students, cleans tables and helps promote order in the cafeteria.

Chairperson(s): Coordinates volunteers to help in the cafeteria and distributes a monthly volunteer schedule.

Volunteers: Provide assistance on their scheduled day.
  

Race for Education:  Main fundraiser of the school year.  The purpose is to continue to support the numerous programs/educational aids throughout the school year.

Chairperson(s): Begins planning with committee four months prior to the event in May. Committee meets weekly/bi-weekly two months before event to copy packets and have students write mailers to sponsors.  Five weeks prior to the event mailers are sent out and weekly meetings are held to collect and record donations. Prepares tracks for Race Day and motivates walkers on Race Day.  After Race Day, meets to continue to record /collect donations and complete tasks to make the event a success.

Volunteers: Assists chairperson(s) in completing the above mentioned tasks.
 

Secret Shop for Kids: An annual event held in December giving students the opportunity to purchase inexpensive holiday gifts for family & friends.

Chairperson(s): Plans the event; coordinates with vendor; provides information to the children and schedules volunteers.

          Volunteers: Helps set-up; assists children; collects money; wraps gifts and helps clean-up.
 

School Store: Sells school supplies to students between 8:15 am-8:35 am.  The school store is held twice a month.

Chairperson(s): Stocks store, sells items, coordinates volunteers, distributes flyers, and submits funds.

Volunteers: Assists children with purchases and collects money.
 

Sharkbites: A monthly newsletter describing school happenings.

Chairperson(s): Collects information from the principal, teachers and parents; assembles and distributes a monthly newsletter.
 

Sellersville Spirit Wear: Sells school spirit wear.

Chairperson(s):  Coordinates with clothing representative to select and order spirit wear; displays selections; distributes flyers; collects orders and delivers spirit wear.
 

Sunshine: Sends cheer to Sellersville families and staff, experiencing special events or times of need.

Chairperson(s): Sends cards, letters, gift baskets, etc. on behalf of the PTU.
 

Winterfest:  A winter event providing enjoyment for our Sellersville families to be held in place of the May Fair. 

Chairperson(s): Coordinates overall planning and scheduling of events; manages communication between game, food & prize committees.

Volunteers: Helps set-up, sell and collect tickets; run games; serve food and clean-up.
 

Yearbook:  A memorable book displaying a collage of pictures from the school year that can be purchased by students and staff.

 Chairperson(s): Takes, collects and prepares photos; coordinates deadlines with vendor; creates layouts; distributes flyers    and manages orders.
