Quote of the Day – This week’s quote is from Booker T. Washington.  Booker T. Washington said, “Few things can help an individual more than to place responsibility on him, and to let him know that you trust him.”  Booker T. Washington believed that the best way for African-Americans to gain social rights was to be people that could be trusted.

 

Cafeteria News – Today’s lunch entrees are:

Open House/Back to School Night - Open House/Back to School Night for parents/guardians is TONIGHT, September 10th at South MS.  The evening begins promptly at 5:45PM.  Parents/guardians should be in their child’s homeroom by that time.

 

Picture Day NewsBrush up those smiles – TOMORROW is school picture day!  Don’t forget to have your completed school picture envelope (with payment enclosed), ready to hand to the photographer at your designated photo time.  You may also utilize the online ordering option if you forgot to bring your envelope to school today.  Remember - Even if you are not purchasing a photo package, you still need to report to the photographer at your designated time to have your picture taken!

 

Music News

  • Band News
    • Band members who have not yet turned in your paperwork to Mr. Morris should do so as soon as possible.
    • Jazz Band audition packets are available in the band room.  They may be picked up during CP11 today.
  • Orchestra News – Any student who has orchestra sign-up forms should return them to their homeroom teacher as soon as possible.

 

South Fall Sports News

  • Football – Any 6th, 7th or 8th grade student interested in being a manager for the football team should see Mr. Renner ASAP.
  • Sports Lockers – 7th & 8th grade students who are playing a fall sports:  You are entitled to a big locker in the locker rooms.  Please see a Wellness teacher before or after school to sign up for a locker.  Be sure to provide your own lock.  Locks will have to be taken off at the end of the season.  Thank you!

 

Spirit Day – This Friday we will have our first spirit day and pep rally!  Wear your South proud shirt or green and white to show your South MS spirit!

 

Wellness News – Students who are interested in purchasing a South MS gym uniform are encouraged to check out the sample uniforms hanging outside of the main office.  If you cannot determine your size by looking at the samples, you may try on the samples.  If you need assistance, see Mrs. Marx or Mrs. Lyons in the main office.

 

Rita’s Water Ice Night – The SCN welcomes South students and staff back to a new school year!  To kick off the school year right, come on out Friday, September 13th from 6:00 - 9:00PM to the Rita’s in Perkasie at 7th & Market St. for a delicious treat!  A percentage of the proceeds will benefit South MS.  Come on out and have an “ICE” evening and be on the lookout for some familiar faces when you place your order!  Hope to see everyone there!

 

REMINDER

  • Attn. Parents/Guardians:  When dropping off/picking up students/forgotten items, PLEASE do not park in the NO PARKING/FIRE ZONE area near the main office entrance.
    • Due to bus traffic and student safety, please park on the street between the hours of 7:00AM – 8:00AM, and 2:00PM – 3:00PM.  Otherwise, you may park in the designated parking spaces in the parking lot.  Thank you!
  • Attn. Parents/Guardians:  When calling in your child’s absence, please remember to call the voice mail line at 215-257-0469 (ext. 991008).  Thank you!
  • Attn Students:  ALL students should be entering the building in the morning through the doors near the cafeteria. DO NOT enter through the front doors near the bike rack.
  • Please remind your parents they are not to enter the front lot where the buses drop off between 7:00-8:15AM.  If your parent or guardian is dropping you off between these times, they should let you out at the 5th Street curb.
  • Also, no students should be entering through the front doors before 7:45AM.
  • All Students and staff are reminded - DO NOT open building doors for anyone.  All guests should be directed to enter thru the secure vestibule at the front of the building.
