Today is DAY 2

September Theme – October’s “T.A.K.E.S. P.R.I.D.E.” theme is “acceptance.”

Quote of the Day – This week’s quote is from Franklin D. Roosevelt.  Franklin D. Roosevelt said, “If civilization is to survive, we must cultivate the science of human relationships – the ability of all people, of all kinds, to live together, in the same world at peace.”  Just as the United Nations builds on differences, our school and community needs to value differences.

Magazine Drive News – We had a good first turn-in day for the Magazine & Cookie Dough Fundraiser!  This means that ducks will be distributed tomorrow because Mrs. Hippauf is still processing the orders!  Remember, our 2nd turn-in day will be next Wednesday, so you have one more week to collect orders and earn prizes!  There are lots of incentives this year including the BINGO party, earning college tuition money, the homeroom participation competition, and of course the ducks!  Mr. Renner will feed ducks again tomorrow so be sure to wear your ducks to earn an extra treat!  Good luck and keep the orders coming!

South Sports News

  • Football - The South Football Team defeated Pennridge Central yesterday 14-0.  The South defense opened the game with a quick stop of Central's offense allowing the offense to score on our first possession.  Nic Sherm scored 2 touchdowns on the day and was aided by sustained drives from the offensive line and running backs Dom Morano and Hunter Burdick.  A successful two-point conversion was made with a pass from Xavier Dantzler to Matt Goddess.  Central went on two long drives during the game, but the South Defense came up with a big tackle for a loss on fourth down to stop a long drive deep into our territory and Dom Morano intercepted a pass to end Central's last offensive possession.  The coaching staff is proud of the team for digging deep and coming up big when needed to secure the victory.  South will host Quakertown Blue next Wednesday at home.
    • There will be NO football practice today.

·         Soccer - The South 7th grade soccer team took to the road again on Wednesday to face a good Penndale team. South started the game with the best first half of the season playing a solid team game and led at halftime after Fernando Perez-Columna put the ball home after a shot by Nate Lapp. Penndale came back in the second half putting 3 goals on the board. South didn’t give up and Lapp scored to cut the lead to 3-2. His goal was assisted by Avery Drumbore. Coach Williams and Coach Lyon are very proud of the way the team played despite falling short 3-2. South hits the road again next Wednesday hoping to shake off the loss and takes on bitter rival Quakertown.

  • Field Hockey – South’s field hockey team earned their 1st win against Penndale yesterday with a score of 4-2.  Four amazing goals were scored, 2 by Ashley Augustin, 1 from Bre Polachek, and 1 from Kacie Leight.  We give big thanks to our offense and defense for putting up a big fight against Penndale.  Special shout-outs go to our goalies – Ryann Bennet and Kerry Miller.  Good job girls!  Let’s get another win at our home game on Wednesday, October 11th.  Go South!
