Today is DAY 6

September Theme – October’s “T.A.K.E.S. P.R.I.D.E.” theme is “acceptance.”

Quote of the Day – This week’s quote is from J. K. Rowling.  J. K. Rowling said, “Understanding is the first step to acceptance, and only with acceptance can there be recovery.”  Seek to understand before seeking to be understood.

Magazine Drive News – Please bring any magazine and cookie dough orders to Mrs. Hippauf in room 104 immediately after announcements today.  Remember, any last minute orders will be accepted orders through tomorrow and these orders will count toward the prize chart!

South Sports News

  • Football –
    • The South Football Team fell to Quakertown Blue yesterday 6-0.  The game was a hard fought battle by both teams and remained scoreless until the 4th quarter.  South moved the ball deep into the red zone on two drives, but were unable to get the ball over the goal line.  Our defensive line and linebackers were successful in stopping the inside runs, while strong defensive end and corner play prevented Quakertown from getting outside for most of the game.  Thank you to everyone who came out to support the team yesterday, and we look forward to seeing you all next Wednesday as we face Penndale for our last home game.
    • The football team will have team pictures today and then stay to support the 9th grade team for their home game on Poppy Yoder field.
  • Soccer

o   JV - The 7th grade soccer team traveled to rival Quakertown Blue on Wednesday afternoon.  South put in their most dominating performance of the season putting 8 goals past the Quakertown keeper.  Nate Lapp got the first two goals of the game with assists from Tess McLaughlin and Avery Drumbore.  Mia Caya scored the next goal for South with an assist from Lapp.  Drumbore closed out the first half with a nice unassisted goal to make it 4-0 at halftime.  Lapp closed out his hat trick with a well struck penalty kick to make it 5-0.  South closed the scoring with goals from Fernando Perez-Columna, Dom Santos, and Sydney Williams.  Jhoa Hernandez provided two assists for the Rams. Adriana Paci, Davis Herrmann, Meghan Farr, Ryan McMahon, Lilly Reilly, Gavin Tirjan, and Ava Pultorak played great games for South. South keeper Ben Rhodes earned the shutout making some key saves.  Coach Williams and Coach Lyon are very proud of the total team effort.

    • Varsity – The 8th grade South soccer team fought hard yesterday against Strayer but came up short losing by a score of 2-0.  Kali Hanson and Lavi Baldovina led the way defensively along with Sean Curry, Aidan Kopelow, and Brielle Yencha.  The offense created some opportunities with some dynamic play by JR Roberts, Isaac Montano, and AJ Burke.  The midfielders also contributed, playing the whole game without any subs.  Anthony Ali, Carter Patterson, Nicholas Frank, and Jocelyn Remick worked their tails off!  Keep playing hard team!  Let’s get ‘em next time!
