Roosevelt said, “If civilization is to survive, we must cultivate the science of human relationships – the ability of all people, of all kinds, to live together, in the same world at peace.”  Just as the United Nations builds on differences, our school and community need to value differences.

Magazine Drive News – Today is our first turn in day for South’s Fundraiser!  Please give all your orders for cookie dough to your homeroom captain during AM homeroom.  Homeroom captains, please bring your yellow envelopes to Mrs. Hippauf’s room during AM homeroom.  Prizes will be distributed on Monday.  The 2nd turn in day will be next Friday!  Keep the orders coming and keep wearing your ducks!  Mr. Renner will feed any ducks he comes across!

 

Pink Out News – South staff and students are reminded that today is PINK OUT day!  Pink is everywhere because October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.  To support Breast Cancer Awareness, South is wearing PINK today.  Make sure to wear Pink to support this cause and to show your school spirit.  A prize will be awarded to the pinkest homeroom in each grade.  Don’t be afraid to go all out!

 

South Soccer News

  • Varsity – The 8th grade soccer team won yesterday, beating Pennfield 2-0 for South’s first shout out of the season.  Oak Boone had 2 awesome passes for corner kicks that led to both goals – one by JP Reyes and one by Matt Atchley.
  • JV – The 7th grade soccer team extends a huge thank you to Mr. Bosler for coaching the team yesterday!  Abby Hanson and Riley “Dubs” Williams scored for South
  • There is NO soccer practice after school today.

 

Music News

·         Band News – Today’s lessons are for 6th grade band members:

o   Period 1 - Percussion

o   Period 2 – all brass players except beginners

o   Period 8/9 - Beginning brass players

o   Period 10 – All woodwinds

 

Cheer Clinic News – Anyone interested in attending the high school cheer clinic next Saturday, October 12th, should pick up a flyer located outside the gym on the cheer bulletin board.

 

Reading Olympics – Our first Reading Olympics meeting for this year will be held next week.  If you are still wanting to participate in Reading Olympics this year, but have not signed up yet, please sign up in the library.

 

ScareMail?Are you looking for something to get your special ghost or ghoul?  Then ScareMail is for you!  ScareMail is a small treat bag that you can buy for your friends or yourself to be delivered on Halloween to homerooms.  ScareMail is 1 for $2.00 or 3/$5.00 and can be pre-ordered starting on Monday, October 7th before homeroom or during CP11 in room #103 or at the SMYLE Shoppe on Tuesday or Thursday.

 

Boxtops are Back! – It's that time of year again when you should start bringing in Boxtops labels to win your homeroom a doughnut party.  Find as many Boxtops to give to your homeroom teachers as you can before the contest ends on October 25th.  ALL homerooms to turn in 400 valid Boxtops will earn their homeroom a doughnut party.  Thank you and good luck.

 

 REMINDER

  • Attn. Parents/Guardians:  When dropping off/picking up students/forgotten items, PLEASE do not park in the NO PARKING/FIRE ZONE area near the main office entrance.
    • Due to bus traffic and student safety, please park on the street between the hours of 7:00AM – 8:00AM, and 2:00PM – 3:00PM.  Otherwise, you may park in the designated parking spaces in the parking lot.  Thank you!
  • Attn. Parents/Guardians:  When calling in your child’s absence, please remember to call the voice mail line at 215-257-0469 (ext. 991008).  Thank you!
  • Attn Students:  ALL students should be entering the building in the morning through the doors near the cafeteria. DO NOT enter through the front doors near the bike rack.
  • Please remind your parents they are not to enter the front lot where the buses drop off between 7:00-8:15AM.  If your parent or guardian is dropping you off between these times, they should let you out at the 5th Street curb.
  • Also, no students should be entering through the front doors before 7:45AM.
  • All Students and staff are reminded - DO NOT open building doors for anyone.  All guests should be directed to enter thru the secure vestibule at the front of the building.
