MRS. LAURA RUSSO, Guidance Counselor
Dear Parents and Caregivers of South students,
You and I will work together to make the most of your child's middle school years. In light of this, I would like to share a few things about myself to help you to get to know me better.
I grew up in Berwyn, a little town in Chester County. I graduated from Conestoga High School and from there went on to major in Law Enforcement and Corrections at York College of Pennsylvania. Shortly before graduation, I realized that I wanted to help people, kids in particular, before they became immersed in the criminal justice system. I enrolled in the school counseling program at Villanova University and since then have served as a middle school guidance counselor for fifteen years. I joined the staff at South Middle School in 2001 and have been here ever since. In case you were curious, my interests include running, cake decorating, and writing stories for my son, Derek.
I hope that all of you are seeing the amazing changes of your 'tweens. Though sometimes agravating and unnerving, it is an experience that will make you proud of your kids, especially when you catch them at their best and think, "Wow--they really do listen!"
