Pennridge to Host Water Polo Clinic
Hoping to provide a solid foundation for young players, the Pennridge School District will host a 10-week Water Polo Clinic starting March 20.
The goal, said PHS Water Polo coach Jacob Grant, is to provide valuable experience to players before they join the high school team. Other area school districts have feeder programs that produce a steady stream of players, he said.
“Many of our players do not have that luxury right now and we are having to start from scratch when they get to high school,” said Grant, who will conduct the clinic along with two members of the current PHS team. “They spend the first year catching up to everyone else.”
The clinic, which is aimed at boys and girls ages 10 through 18, will be held from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Mondays and from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays through May 25 at the PHS Natatorium.
Activities include swimming, treading water, catching/throwing a water polo ball, shooting, game set-up (offense/defense) and positioning. There could be some scrimmaging if enough players come out, said Grant.
The cost for the clinic is $150.
