Behavior Reports

posted Sep 29, 2012, 7:58 AM by Robert James   [ updated Jul 26, 2016, 5:15 PM ]

Hello Parents,
We are tracking PRIDE Paws using an online program called "Class Dojo" that enables us to record positive and negative behaviors at school.  Whenever a PRIDE Paw is earned or lost, it will be recorded.  Reports are available for the parents via the website or app, so you can look at the behaviors and discuss them with your child. Most parents download the app on their phone and use this as mechanism to communicate with their student's teacher.
To access your child's reports, you will need to create an account to login to this site (www.classdojo.comor the Class Dojo app. It's a simple process.
We hope this information is helpful.

Point of Sale

posted Mar 30, 2012, 2:42 AM by Robert James   [ updated Jul 26, 2016, 5:12 PM ]

A point of sale system is used in the cafeteria.  This enables you to place money into an account at school and students will debit this account.  This will also help parents to understand what your student is purchasing.
Students will need to know their Student ID's to purchase items in cafeteria using their account.  There are reminder cards for students during checkout.  There are more details for setting up your account and adding funds on the district's Nutritional Services website.

Student Reference Book

Hi Parents,
If you are struggling when helping your child with the math homework, please keep in mind that every child has a Student Reference Book (SRB) that they can bring home.  It has all of the information on the mathematical techniques used in the program.  It also has the games used to help your student develop more proficiency in math skills.  It is a very handy parent reference book, so ask your child to bring it home.
Please note that this reference is also available on the www.everydaymathonline.com website.  Students can login using their account.

Friday Updates

posted Sep 30, 2011, 4:00 PM by Robert James   [ updated Sep 1, 2012, 5:22 AM ]

Hello Parents,
There will be times when I forget to copy the Friday Updates until it is too late.  This made me think, "Why not just post the latest information online?" This will help if the paper version is lost, or if Mr. James did not get it copied on time.  So I have made a location under the Parent links for the Friday Update.  That way you can see what is happening if your paper gets lost.
E-mail me if you think this is useful for you.

Finding Great Sentences

posted Apr 28, 2011, 1:40 AM by Robert James   [ updated Sep 30, 2011, 4:56 PM ]

Students have a new place to save the great sentences that they find when they are reading.  These sentences will be examples of the various patterns we have discussed in class. For example, a student may see a great example of an AAAWWUBBIS (Confused? Ask them...) and want to share it with the class.  They can simply go to the Great Sentences page on the sidebar and type the sentence into the web page, listing where they found it.  Mr. James will get a copy and find a good time for them to share it with the class
Encourage your readers to notice how other authors write, so they can imitate it in their own writing.  Keep them motivated to read a varitey of genres and authors.  Great writers are great readers.
