∗ There will be grilled hamburgers and hot dogs available for families to purchase a lunch, more details to come.
∗ Dress your child appropriately. Tennis shoes, shorts and a T-shirt would be perfect. Sandals are not appropriate for our activities.
∗ Put sunblock on your child BEFORE he/she leaves for school. Sunblock is considered a medication by child care regulations. It is not allowed on buses and we cannot put it on your child.

If you wish to donate bottled water to your child’s class, please bring it to school or give it to the bus monitor/driver. If you plan to attend, you can bring it with you to field day. This will help keep our children hydrated and cool throughout the day.

We also will need shade for the children to relax and eat their lunch. If you have (or know anyone who would let us borrow) a shade tent for the day, please leave a message with Christina at the preschool office, 910-259-7603 or Grace Moore at Grace_Moore@pender.k12.nc.us.

Announcing "Preschool Bucks"

posted Aug 9, 2016, 12:07 PM by Loren Macon   [ updated Aug 9, 2016, 12:29 PM ]

PCS Preschool Program is instilling a new Family Engagement Program called "Preschool Bucks". Each time a parent/legal guardian attends a meeting, training, or volunteers in class they will earn "Preschool Bucks"! These bucks can be earned beginning the first day of school and can be spent at preschool events starting in November. Items in the Preschool Bucks Store will be mostly home items and educational items (pots and pans, kitchen towels, bath sets, children's books, family board games, etc.).  We are excited to use this program as an incentive to attend and get involved in their child's education.  More details will be provided in the first month of school.

Home-School Conferences

Home-School Conferences begin June 1 during non-instructional hours (before or after school hours).  Make sure to plan a date and time to meet your your child's teacher to discuss the progress your child has made this year and to plan for some activities to work on this summer.

Kindergarten Requirements

posted Mar 2, 2016, 12:56 PM by Loren Macon   [ updated Aug 9, 2016, 12:31 PM ]

We are excited for our children and families who will soon be entering KINDERGARTEN!!  Even though the beginning of Kindergarten is months away, we start planning for it now.  The county is holding their Kindergarten Registration window from March 7-18, hoping to get as many children registered as possible in that time frame.  The school system’s funding is based upon how many children register for Kindergarten, so please encourage all families with children who will be 5 on or before August 31st to register at their local elementary school.

Luckily for our Head Start and NC Pre-K children, they will be registered through paperwork at their winter home visit (February-March).

All children entering Kindergarten must have a recent health assessment on file (between now and mid-September). The forms are linked here:  Kindergarten Health AssessmentSpanish Kindergarten Health Assessment. Updated shot records are also on the list of things all kindergarten children must have–even if they were in the school system preschool with our program.

If you have any questions about Kindergarten Registration, you may call PCS central office (259-2187) or the Preschool Office (259-7603).

Go out and get registered between March 7-March 18!
