Pender County Schools names Pender Early College Principal

PENDER COUNTY — The Pender County Board of Education has appointed Kevin Taylor Principal of Pender Early College High School.

Taylor holds bachelor’s and master's degrees from East Carolina University and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Wingate University. He brings 16 years of experience to Pender Early College, having served as an assistant principal, teacher, and vocational program coordinator.

“I was a first-generation college student,” Taylor said. “I know the benefits of working hard and reaching your goals.”

Taylor said he is looking forward to getting to know teachers, students, and the community.

“Pender Early College offers a great opportunity to have a small environment where you can really make difference with students, helping them make their way through high school while also earning an associate’s degree,” he said. “There is a longstanding tradition of success at Pender Early College and I am honored to be a part of continuing that.”

A member of the ECU Board of Visitors, Taylor is a huge ECU fan. He and his wife, Jenny, who is also an educator, have two children, a rising eighth grader and a rising senior. They are looking forward to joining their extended family in the area.

“Mr. Taylor is an advocate for the Early College program,” Dr. Cobb said. “His experience will be an asset to Pender Early College and to the district.”
