School Board Seeks Public Input on Superintendent Search

The Pender County Board of Education sought direct input from interested members of the community to help shape the search process and assist in defining the qualities and characteristics of the next superintendent of Pender County Schools (PCS).

The board invited parents and community members to participate in a short community survey that was accessible online from April 26, 2017 until May 31, 2017.

Results of this survey are to be compiled and presented by the North Carolina School Boards Association (NCSBA) at the regular board meeting on June 13, 2017.

In addition, all employees of PCS will have an opportunity to complete a separate staff survey. Access to and details about completing the employee version of the search survey will be communicated via school system email or may be obtained from the central office.

Citizens may also sign up to address the board during the public comment period upcoming regular board meetings. Speakers must otherwise comply with board policy on public comment.

In addition to input received from the surveys and public comment, written statements from any local groups or organizations may be submitted to Allison Schafer via mail at NCSBA, P.O. Box 97877, Raleigh, NC 27624, via email at aschafer@ncsba.org, or via fax at 919-841-4020. These statements should be received no later than June 5, 2017

PCS: We Are One Donation Drive

Donation Drive

Helping those affected by Hurricane Matthew in Pender County

Pender County Schools, in partnership with Food Lion, Piggly Wiggly, and Wilmington Box Company will be collecting items to distribute to students and their families affected by flooding in Pender County through 10/21/2016. Donations can include canned food, school supplies, paper products, and hygiene products, such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, and soap. Donations can be dropped off at any of our schools up through this Friday. Thank you for helping us support our families during this time of need.

Two Hour Early Release on Friday, October 7

Pender County Schools

Due to the forecasted impact of Hurricane Matthew, Pender County Schools will release students two hours early on Friday, October 7. All afterschool programs on Friday as well as scheduled weekend activities have been cancelled.

Pender County Schools is continuing to work with Emergency Management to monitor the track of this storm. Parents, staff and community members will be notified should further cancellations or delays be necessary.

Be sure to monitor local media outlets for updates on the storm and school closings and delays.

Expectations for the New School Year

  • Student drop off begins at 7:20.

  • Please do not drop off before 7:20.

  • Tardy bell rings at 7:45.

  • If your child is a car rider and needs breakfast, please ensure they are here by 7:30.

  • No student checkout after 2:30. Be sure to complete a lunch application.

  • Transportation changes need to be in writing.

  • The front office will help with getting forgotten items to your child.

  • Sign up for PTO or volunteer!
