21st Century

21st Century Community Learning Centers Program

The 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) Program is provided through a federally funded grant administered by the North Carolina Department of Public
Instruction.  The program provides expanded learning opportunities for eligible students in Title 1 schools beyond the regular school hours.

Academic enrichment in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and math is the program's primary focus. Additional components build social and physical skills through activities in fitness, sports, arts, and culture. Students are engaged in activities and on-going relationships that increase confidence and encourage success at home, in school, and in the community.

Program Goals and Expectations

Goal 1: To improve the academic performance of students by extending the regular school-day curriculum using a variety of activities, including the use of technology, based on North Carolina Common Core Standards.

Goal 2: To develop in students a sense of responsibility, appropriate behavior, and work habits that contributes to their academic success.

Goal 3: To provide students with opportunities to participate in activities related to the arts, recreation, and physical fitness that they may not otherwise experience.

Goal 4: To provide families with support services and assist them in supporting their children’s education.
