About the Teacher

B.A. in English, Minor in Secondary Education, Worcester State University, Worcester, MA.
Graduated from Haverhill High School in Haverhill, MA.
Certified in Wilson Reading System.

For the past eight years, I have been the Literacy Tutor at Pelham High School, working with students on improving their reading comprehension, decoding, and writing skills through systematic small group reading instruction utilizing the Corrective Reading and Wilson Reading systems. I have also worked with classroom teachers on enhancing their students' reading abilities through Active Reading Strategies and other effective reading strategies (links to these strategies will be up and running shortly).

Aside from my role as Reading Tutor, I am also the Chess Club Staff Adviser at PHS. The Club meets on Wednesdays after school and the Club's participants regularly compete in New Hampshire State Scholastic Tournaments including the State Individual and Team Championships. In 2014, a team of ninth graders from Pelham High School won the State Championship for Grades 7-9.
