Mr. Knoot's Classroom
Welcome to 5th grade! I'm going to share a little of my background with you.  I have been teaching at Palmyra Elementary and living in Wisconsin since 2012.  I am a 1993 graduate of the University of Iowa (Go Hawkeyes!) with a degree in Elementary Education and a 2004 graduate of Iowa State University with a M.Ed. in Science Education.  I spent four years teaching at the University of Iowa School of the Wild and several years at Ogden, IA Middle School, mostly teaching math at the 5th/6th grade level.  I taught special education my first year at PES and have been teaching at the 5th grade level since that time.  I live in Cambridge and have two children, Aysha (11) and Kai (8).  We can be found riding bikes, playing sports and throwing tennis balls for Jake, our golden retriever.  My own hobby is avocational archaeology, which mostly involves studying prehistoric stone tools (arrowheads, spearpoints, etc.) and learning about the people who made and used them.  I enjoy teaching because it's one of the best ways to make a difference in improving the lives of others and because my personality is well-suited to working with kids.  Please don't hesitate to be in touch on issues/concerns related to your child.  Contact information:  jknoot@peasd.org or (262) 495-7103 (Ext 3108)
