Melissa Lucash

Dr. Lucash grew up in eastern PA, receiving her B.S. and Ph.D. at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (Syracuse, NY) and her M.S. at Oregon State University (Corvallis, OR).  Throughout much of her career, she conducted fieldwork in plant physiology and biogeochemistry, but now focuses on climate change research using landscape-level modelling.
She is a model developer of LANDIS-II, NECN (Net Ecosystem Carbon and Nitrogen) extension, charged with improving the successional, carbon and nitrogen dynamics of vegetation and soils in the model. Most of her time is spent working on a project which aims to better integrate climate change results into forest management planning in northern MN (https://sites.google.com/a/pdx.edu/dynamic-ecosystems-landscape-lab/research/climate-science-and-forest-management-in-mn).

On our project, Dr. Lucash co-leads the landscape simulation work with Drs. Smithwick and Scheller.  A more detailed description of her past and current research is located on her website at Portland State University:
