*Guidelines for Observing LING 4/509

Students who are Teaching Community ESL Classes

Please contact one of the above practicum students to arrange an opportunity to observe a Community ESL class.  Practicum students' e-mails are provided in the above table.  Community ESL Practicum students have the right to refuse observations by LING students who are not planning to submit an application to enroll in LING 4/509.  If you observe a Community ESL class taught by a LING 4/509 student, you must submit an application and/or a reflection of the class you observe.  Please send the reflection as an attachment to Jenny Stenseth, Practicum Supervisor, at stenseth@pdx.edu. Jenny will share your reflection with the practicum student you observe.

LING 4/509 practicum students may ask observers to participate during the class.  If you are observing to complete a course assignment that requires you do not participate, check with the practicum student ahead of time to determine if this is an appropriate class in which to complete your assignment.  Also, if you need to cancel an observation, contact the practicum student well in advance so that s/he has time to adjust the lesson plan.
