Congratulations, Melissa!  Dr. Melissa Lucash received a 2015 WilburforceFellowship in Conservation ScienceShe was selected as only one of 20 fellows in the western U.S. and Canada. This new program is designed to cultivate a community of scientists, policy-makers and journalists, who will together explore new ways to use conservation science to help solve pressing challenges across Western North America.  The first event will be held in Seattle in April and will address the foundations of communication and leadership, provide insight into the cultures of policymakers and journalists, and provide experience in framing research to make it relevant to a variety of audiences. In the following months, each fellow will work with policymakers and top-tier journalists to develop and achieve a conservation goal; Melissa plans to focus on issues of climate change in western forests, building on her research in the DE&L Lab.
