Alec Kretchun to start new project with the US Forest Service

Alec, through a partnership between Portland State and the USFS Region 6 Office, will be helping to support applications of ecosystem services to public land management. The 2012 USFS Planning Rule, which guides land management in the National Forest System, includes consideration of ecosystem services in planning processes.  “Early adopters” of the Rule have explored methods for addressing ecosystem services in planning, and there is a need to share lessons learned with other National Forests. Alec will be working to compile methods, guidance, and resources to help other public land managers interpret and apply these new concepts on the national forests.
