Persian program at PSU

The Persian program at PSU offers the only Minor in Persian within the entire state of Oregon. We also offer a wide range of courses on Persian language, literature and culture (in Persian and English). The Persian Minor is open to both non-native and native speakers of Persian.

The requirements for the Persian Minor are 20 upper-division credits in Persian language, literature, or culture and 4 credits in general linguistics.

Through a community grant from PARSA Community Foundation, the Persian program at PSU was able to bring to residence the renowned scholar of Persian Literature, prof. Dick Davis in 2013 where he taught courses on Persian Literature and contributed to the community events at PSU. Another community grant funded by Roshan Cultural Heritage Institute enabled the Persian program to organize a film series focused on Iranian women.

Below are some of the community events organized by Persian program at PSU:

Shahin Najafi: Live in Concert (2014) Sponsored by PARSA Community Foundation
Lectures Series: Iranian Women: From Ancient Times To Modern Times (2013) Sponsored by PARSA Community Foundation
Mohsen Namjoo: Live in Concert (2012) Sponsored by PARSA Community Foundation
