The Creative Use of Composition in the Classroom

During the Spring term the focus will be on the third part of The Creative Use of… trilogy. We have already focused on The Creative Use of ICT in the Music Room and The Creative Use of Classroom Singing. The third part of this creative trilogy is The Creative Use of Composition in the Classroom -  so let’s unlock the creative potential of ourselves and our music students! These hands-on and dynamic evening workshops will explore ways that music teachers can use composition to enhance the teaching and learning of musical concepts as well as facilitating a greater understanding of the process and possibilities for composition within the Junior and Senior Cycles.

Teachers wishing to attend are invited to bring a small percussion instrument or recorder/tin whistle along to this creative and relevant workshop. All participating teachers will receive a comprehensive resource pack consisting of audio samples, warm-ups, a skill set for minimalist composition and practical examples of composition for use in the music classroom.
