P2 Curriculum

Music lessons occur once per week in Primary 2.  Skills are developed through learning activities related to IPC and the UK National Curriculum to ensure the development of skills across the musical elements and disciplines. It is an opportunity for children to explore sound and how it can be controlled to produce different effects and emotions. Children will be encouraged to sing a range of songs which aid the development of language and motor skills. They will develop greater knowledge of tuned and untuned percussion instruments and be introduced to a range of tuned instruments including those of the orchestra. All students will begin to learn to play the recorder.

Students will often work collaboratively in groups and will have many opportunities to develop their confidence through performing to their peers and others.
