PCS Family Engagement

Family Engagement is a full, equal, and equitable partnership among families, educators and community partners to promote children's learning and development from birth through college and career.

My name is Jackie Reynolds.  I am the Family Engagement Coordinator for Putnam County Schools.  You may reach me by email at jreynolds3@pcsstn.com or by phone at (931) 881-8848.

Welcome to Putnam County Schools!  We value YOU as the parent. whether you are a guardian, grandparent, step-parent, or even great-grandparent.  As you know YOU are your child's first teacher.  We want to work with you to help your child be the best they can be.

Putnam County has a district Family Engagement Plan that you can view in English or in Spanish.

Copy of District Parent and Family Engagement Policy

A hard copy of this plan is available at the Central Office and at every school.

If you would like to make suggestions or comments regarding the District Family Engagement Plan and/or the District School Improvement Plan, please email me @ jreynolds3@pcsstn.com or by phone at (931) 881-8848.

The Tennessee Department of Education and Trevecca University announced a new resource, Bridging the Distance: Family Remote Learning, which is specially designed to help families navigate remote learning and better understand the common tools and programs used by educators.

This completely free resource features “Remote Learning 101” modules that will help families learn the same tools our educators use for remote instruction. These short, accessible videos from experts will help families understand common remote learning tools and equips them to speak the same “tech” language as the teacher, so they will be better able to support their child’s learning.

Families can access these resources at: https://remotefamilylearning.com/

Every school in Putnam County also has a Family Engagement Plan/Policy that you can view on the school's website or a hard copy is available in each school.
If you would like to make suggestions or comments regarding the Family Engagement Plan/Policy and/or the School Improvement Plan at your child's school, please email the principal or call the school.

If you need transportation or childcare to attend an event at your child's school, please call the school office and they will be able to help you.

The National PTA Parents’ Guide to Student Success was developed in response to the common core standards in English language arts and mathematics that more than 40 states have adopted. The guides are written in English and Spanish for Kindergarten through high school and can be accessed at Parents' Guide to Student Success.

The Guide includes:
  • Key items that children should be learning in English language arts and mathematics in each grade, once the standards are fully implemented.
  • Activities that parents can do at home to support their child's learning.
  • Methods for helping parents build stronger relationships with their child's teacher.
  • Tips for planning for college and career for high school only.
